Internship Overview

This placement will provide support for a variety of Human Resources functions including administration, recruitment and selection, employee engagement, employee housing, health & safety and projects. The successful candidate will work with the Human Resources team supporting the department’s goal and strategy, embracing Deerhurst Resort’s guiding values while creating a welcoming environment for all Hosts and guests.

Recruitment and Selection

  • Review and update recruitment materials, including job descriptions, job postings, career fair materials and interview questions.
  • Attend career fairs as required
  • Screen resumes and application forms to identify suitable candidates to fill company job vacancies
  • Schedule interviews with shortlisted candidates
  • Post and remove job advertisements to job boards and social media platforms as required

Employee Housing

  • Support the Staff Housing Team with move-ins and ensuring a welcoming and engaging arrival experience
  • Support in maintaining a clean housing environment for residents
  • Ensure units are prepared for new arrivals
  • Report any housing concerns to HR & Housing Coordinator
  • Daily, weekly and monthly housing walks to inspect cleanliness, safety, maintenance requirements and housing supplies

Host Engagement

  • Organize and execute staff activities to promote engagement and increase host satisfaction
  • Monitor and track Host Happiness device machines, reporting data to HR Director weekly
  • Support the HR team with the monthly staff recognition program by collecting nominations
  • Collect and post content on internal staff communication tv’s and internal communication boards
  • Celebrate successes and publicly recognizing the contribution of Hosts, promoting recognition in all areas

Administrative & Other Tasks

  • Audit HR documents to ensure logos meet brand standards
  • Audit Health and Safety boards for accuracy throughout the Resort
  • Prepare onboarding packages for new hires
  • Attend and actively participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and events
  • Take and distribute minutes for the Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings
  • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with the Deerhurst Resort Team
  • Attend Resort and Community events as required
  • Maintain standards in compliance with all Deerhurst Resort policies, procedures and practices
  • Promote positive relationships with employees in all areas of the Resort
  • Recognize and greets all guests and team members first
  • Provide exceptional and professional service to our guests and Hosts
  • Ensure the well-being of our guests and team members by being alert to and reporting potential hazards
  • Model all Deerhurst Resort Values while caring for the guests, co-hosts and home owners
  • Comfortable making responsible decisions and develops recommendations for effective problem solving
  • All other duties as assigned

  • Able to work well with others

  • Pays precise attention to detail, has a high level of accuracy and is able to meet strict deadlines
  • Has exceptional energy, flexibility and professionalism

  • Has effective communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Able to adapt in a fast pace, constant changing environment within a dynamic work schedule
  • Has advanced keyboarding and data entry skills
  • Enrolled in a school program requiring an internship

Visa Requirements: Must be eligible to work in Canada.
